Sunshine After The Rain
25/02/22
What a wet week! We hope that the storms haven’t caused too much disruption or damage. Luckily we haven’t seem to have had the worst of it – although the last few days have been worse for us than when we had weather warnings! We even woke up to a dusting of snow yesterday morning (Thursday).
Haydock on Saturday was a real test of stamina in the wet ground, where Crystal Glory ran a fantastic race to finish second by eight lengths to the evens favourite Hillcrest. The third placed horse was 41 lengths behind him, with another 50 lengths back to fourth place.
Monday we had Glittering Love at Carlisle who managed fourth place in heavy ground. Tuesday was Market Rasen with Serious Ego, although finishing third of the three runners, he still ran a good race and the ground wasn’t as soft as we expected it to be. He wasn’t beaten far by the other two and the winner looks to be a nice horse.
We had a stable visit for Greystoke Owners today (Friday) and we had the best day for weather that we’ve had all month!
Saturday we are at Newcastle with Kian Calling in the 1:35 Novice Hurdle and Soft Risk races in handicap company for the first time, in the 3:50 Vertem Handicap Hurdle.
Carlisle is back on again Monday, among some of the entries is Houston Texas who won here three weeks ago. He’s come out of that race well and hopefully he can follow up with another success. Parisencore is entered in the two mile Novice Hurdle, he was last seen at Ayr in December when he finished second.
If you follow our social media accounts, you’ll have seen we have started a “Meet The Team” mini series, where there is a little bio on each member of staff, their ambitions and favourite horses. You don’t need a login to view our Facebook page and have a look at the posts.
Today is Nicky’s birthday so we will conclude this weeks blog by wishing him a Happy Birthday and hopefully he’ll be lucky at Newcastle tomorrow!
