Good To Frozen!
03/12/21
We’ve seen a drastic change in the weather this week – from relatively mild to -5 with snow and ice. Newcastle was run in a blizzard on Saturday, with us finding it harder and harder to see our horses as the day went on! Somewhere through the snow Parisencore managed another second in the maiden hurdle.
Unfortunately the conditions worsened overnight which resulted in the abandonment of Carlisle on Sunday. We have looked for alternative races this week and into next week for the intended runners.
Scotland didn’t seem to get hit has hard with the cold snap so it was all systems go for Ayr on Monday. A successful day with Famous Bridge winning in the Trevor Hemmings silks, then Gege Ville scoring in the bumper under a confident ride from Conor Rabbitt. In between, Mayo Star ran a great race under top weight to take second place in a handicap hurdle.
Today we had three runners at Sedgefield; Rubytwo was blinkered for the first time and ran a great race to finish second in the Mare’s Handicap Hurdle. Glorious Spirit was in the 2:15 Novices’ Hurdle, the best race she has contested so far. She will probably be better suited to handicaps from now on. Summergrounds – who was due to run at Carlisle on Sunday took fourth in the bumper.
Our next meeting will be on Sunday at Kelso where we have three declared. Snowy Clouds (a rather apt name for the recent weather!) has his second start for us after finishing sixth at Carlisle last month.
Court Dreaming, another who was due to to go to Carlisle on Sunday is in the 12:33 Handicap Chase over 2m7f and Chidswell steps back up in trip for the 4mile handicap chase at 1:03.
Musselburgh on Monday we have four entered. Everyday Champagne, Big Bad Bear, Holme Abbey and Universal Folly. Again, Big Bad Bear and Folly had been prepared for Carlisle on Sunday. Holme Abbey also has entries for Hexham on Wednesday along with Everyday Champagne.
Further entries at Newcastle on Thursday, including Royal Arcade, Crystal Glory and Hard Iron.
