Summer Season
Despite being quieter with runners over the summer months and both the staff and horses taking their well earned holidays, we are still very much busy on and around the yard.
Nicky has attended a few sales and purchased some lovely youngsters which are currently all available on our “horses for sale” page. http://nickyrichardsracing.com/horses-for-sale/
The 3 from Goffs Ireland remained over there to be broken in, whilst our Cockney Rebel gelding is being backed in Greystoke and coming along nicely.
We were also out with the camera a few weeks ago, if you haven’t seen the video already, here is the link:
It’s lovely to see the horses enjoying the sunshine and the endless supply of grass in the paddocks. Back in the yard their stables will have a deep clean and a lick of paint before being bedded up again ready for the autumn/winter.
Sunday saw Caius Marcius win for the 12th time, this time at Market Rasen. He has now won over £130,000 for his owners since his very first win on his first start in 2015. He has been ridden out for the majority of his career by Geraldine, who will no doubt be treating him to lots of carrots!
Tomorrow we head to Perth with 7 runners:
Home Fire makes his debut over hurdles in the 2:15, he showed promise in the early spring when 4th in his bumper. Holme Abbey couldn’t repeat his winning performance last time out, but hopefully he can show his ability again in the 2:50. Top Billing runs in 3:25 under one of our amateurs, Conor Rabbit. He had a good summer last year and it would be nice to see him return to that form again. Old favourite Duke Of Navan lines up in the 4:00, he’s had a fantastic career and has shown the spark is still burning bright this summer, it would be amazing for him to get one more win under his belt for his owners David & Nicky Robinson. Western Rules returns from a break in the 4:35, he takes on Kajaki who has been running well of late and is seeking to bag that win. Kitty Hall needs to bounce back to the promise she showed earlier in her career. This will be her second run since a wind op, she’s in the 5:45 with Danny McMenamin taking the ride.
Best of luck to all horses, jockeys and connections.
