The lightly raced 8 year old mare delivered on its earlier promising runs when winning the Livescore Bet Mares handicap hurdle over 2 miles 5 furlongs at Ayr on Saturday.
Settled just behind the leaders by Danny McMenamin, Ruby Island made smooth progress to lead jumping 2 out. Although strongly challenged by Fox’s Fancy, Ruby Island ran on gamely to win by a neck. This continues the fine form of the of the Greystoke stable.
Later in the day the 5 year old Wanderinginthedark ran a very promising race to finish second in the Virgin Bet Open N H race.
