A Spring In Our Step

 In Greystoke Galloper

It’s been a lovely week here in Greystoke and after several months we have finally got back on to our grass gallops which has been lovely for everyone.

The staff here have been enjoying the nicer weather with games of football after work and even some races too!

Reivers Lad was travelling strongly at Ayr on Monday when falling 4 out. He came back a little sore from the fall but he’s doing ok.

Uncle Alastair returned from a very long layoff, he got tired and finished 3rd but he can only improve for the run.

On Wednesday, Looking Well ran a nice race at Musselburgh to finish 3rd and he should continue to be competitive in Hunter chases.

Tomorrow (Saturday) we have runners at two meetings.
At Kelso, Castle Rushen runs in the 1.30, the Grade 2 Premier Novices Hurdle.
He’s done little wrong this season, winning twice and finishing second last time. Hopefully he will appreciate the drying ground and it will be nice to see how he copes with the step up in class. Sean Quinlan rides.

Mayo Star runs in the 2.05. He won twice last year. He had a respectable comeback run over fences. He enjoys soft/heavy ground so hopefully the ground won’t have dried out too much for him. Sean Quinlan rides.

At Doncaster Duke Of Navan runs in the 2.55. He isn’t getting any younger now but his first run of the season was really good and he should be much happier on the better ground tomorrow. Ryan Day rides.

Chidswell runs in the Grimthorpe Chase at 3.30. He is a previous winner of the race, the ground should suit and he has a nice low weight so hopefully he can run a good race. Ryan Day rides.

We have several entries throughout the week.

On Monday Serious Ego holds an entry at Wetherby in the 4.20. He won really nicely at Haydock in January and then he was travelling well at Kelso last time when he made a bad mistake and unseated his rider. He does enjoy the softer ground so he will be one who is hoping that the rain doesn’t completely disappear on us just yet!

Tuesday is Newcastle.

1.45 Castle Rushen
He runs tomorrow at Kelso.

Royal Arcade
He ran very promising at Carlisle last time to finish second. Hopefully he can run another good race.

2.50 Bullion Boss
He has ran some really good races this season. It would be nice if he can continue in the same form.

Murvagh Beach
He has taken time to mature, he’s a lovely big horse who has been green in his races so far. We still like him a lot and we hope that the step up in trip can bring about some improvement.

3.20 Chapel Stile
Won in great style at Carlisle 2 weeks ago. He stays really well.

Glittering Love
Also a strong stayer, he seems to be in good form at home. He prefers some cut in the ground.

3.50 Karamoko
We have been waiting for some better ground for him in the hope that he can return to form and find some of the promise that he showed earlier in his career.

Holme Abbey
Another one that hasn’t ran for a while. He ran a really good race at Cartmel last summer to finish second but disappointed next time. We hope that he can return to his best form.

4.50 Glorious Spirit
Unraced mare, she has a sweet temperament and does her work nicely at home, hopefully she can make a promising debut.

Wednesday Catterick

2.40 Kitty Hall
She ran well to finish second at Musselburgh last time out. Hopefully she can continue in good form.

Thursday Carlisle

1.00 She’s A Rocca
Her form has been a little patchy. This will be her first run since having a wind operation so hopefully she can find a little bit of improvement.

3.15 Legal Beagle
He has been a little disappointing so far. He is working nicely at home and we have been waiting for some better ground.

Gale Force One
She was green on her debut at Doncaster but we hope she can improve as she gains experience.

Royal Arcade
He acted really well on the track last time out on his debut. He has a couple of options throughout the week.

Finally, we hope that everyone enjoys the weekend racing and throughout next week, fingers crossed that we can enjoy some winners and most of all we hope that the horses and return safely.
Let’s hope that we can enjoy a good spring with plenty of visits to the winner’s enclosure to finish off the season!

Everyone take care and see you all soon! 😊
