Japetus Scorches to Victory in the Bumper at Hexham

The 4 year old Japetus put up a sparkling performance yesterday at Hexham to win the the Angel of Corbridge N H Open flat race.

Settled behind the leaders by jockey Danny McMenamin he made smooth progress turning out of the back straight to effortlessly cruise into the lead approaching the last two furlongs. He very quickly drew clear to win in a canter by 11 lengths.

The four year old gelding by Sea the Moon looks to have a very bright future ahead of him for owner Mrs Pat Sloan and Nicky. The owners were most unfortunate not have a double when their runner in the first horse, Young Getaway who finished second, met considerable trouble and interference in running, without which he would surely have won.

Japetus continued the great form of the Nicky Richards Greystoke stable.
