The Inside Track – June 2024
An as expected quiet month in terms of Greystoke runners this month, but it wasn’t without highlights, with a win and multiple placed efforts rewarding summer campaigns.
One of the few disappointments came at Hexham with Serious Ego failing to back up his Perth effort back up in class. With 5 wins or places since November he’s obviously the type to bounce back quickly when next seen, likely in the autumn with the ground now firming up.
She’s a Rocca also ran below par at Southwell, being looked after when unable to get into the race 3 out. She’s entered at Perth this week and can hopefully get back on track there.
At Market Rasen, Summergrounds followed up his C&D win last month with a highly creditable third. Having been hampered early, he worked his way into the race and led heading towards the last before tiring late on. Previous comments about him having a productive summer look to be on the mark.
Parisencore was another from last month’s piece with plenty of positives about him, his views about being well handicapped justified as he took the Perth Silver Cup Handicap Chase in good style. He looked well suited by the step up in trip and seemingly ground versatile he’ll have a stack of options moving forwards.
Back at Hexham, neither Yakaleo on hurdling debut nor Caius Marcius returning as a teenager from a 6-month break managed to get competitive but laid solid foundations to build on.
The final two runners of the month came at Market Rasen, with Bullion Boss coming an excellent second to show his first form since a lengthy absence and Kajaki unluckily being run out of the places having gone as low as 1.23 on Betfair. Both are well worth following on their next starts.
Star Performer: Parisencore – Backed up the view he was a well handicapped chaser to follow with a strong travelling win of a good race for the time of year. He’ll be very competitive in valuable races during the winter.
