In Greystoke Galloper

The Nicky Richards Greystoke stable continued its sparkling form with a double at Newcastle on Saturday.

Firstly the 6 year old Young Getaway delivered on the promise shown in its previous two races when easily winning the 2 mile Sign Lead Your Horse to Water Maiden Hurdle. Settled in second by Sean Quinlan Young Getaway travelled with supreme confidence to lead after 3 out. He then quickened clear after 2 out to come a comfortable 5 length winner for owner Mrs Pat Sloan.

In the last race of the day the 7 year old The Best Way completed a double for the Greystoke stable when winning the 2 mile Costello’s Cleaning Conditionals Jockeys Handicap Hurdle. Settled in the last two by it’s jockey Conor Rabbitt, The Best Way started to make headway from the rear leaving the back straight, cutting his way through the field. Conor produced The Best Way to challenge the favourite Mister Smarty at the last hurdle. Although not jumping the last hurdle cleanly, The Best Way produced a strong determined finish to lead close to home and win by half a length. This gave the Multiple Sclerosis Borders Racing Club, a long standing patron of Nicky Richards, a winner.

These winners continued of the successes of the Greystoke stable, who won the big race at Haydock last Saturday
