Nicky Richards at the double at Haydock
In a brilliant training performance Nicky Richards sent four horses to Haydock today.
Firstly Gege Ville overcame trouble in running to win the Bedfred Nifty 50 Conditional Jockeys Handicap hurdle over 2 miles 2 furlongs.
Gege Ville had been off the track for over 500 days but Nicky produced him ready to win at Haydock in a great training performance. Settled behind the leaders by his jockey Conor Rabbitt he was short of room on the run to the last hurdle. But Conor found room to quicken up past the leaders and win going away by a length and a quarter.
This was followed by Sunnyvilla who Nicky bought out of Ireland at the sales in May.
Sunnyvilla, who is one of Nicky’s own syndicate horses, was jumped off in front by Danny McMenamin. Jumping boldly he was never headed to land the Betfred Bet Builder handicap chase over 2 miles by 7 lengths.
This was a great result for the new syndicate owners. The future looks bright for Sunnyvilla and there are still some shares available in the horse.
Later on the card Famous Bridge ran a great race in the Betfred Tommy Whittle Chase giving weight to every horse in the field.
Castle Rushen stayed on to get third place in the last race the Betfred Merry Christmas handicap hurdle to to round off a great day for the Greystoke stable and provide a great tonic for Nicky as he continues to recover from his injuries.
