Another week, yet more winners!

What a fantastic month October has been. Nine runners in total for the month and plenty of great placed efforts too, taking our tally to 15 for the season already!

Here’s a quick recap…

AYR

Last Monday we took five runners to Ayr, coming home with two winners and three seconds.

Maughold Head showed he had matured a lot during his break and finished a credible second behind Sizing Pottsie (a 153 rated chaser). Hard Iron proved he’d be better for handicapping when nicely winning the Novice Handicap Hurdle under Callum Bewley. He’s still looking for an owner, along with some other lovely types. A list of horses for sale can be found here, if you’re interested or would like more info, please get in touch.

In the following race our patience with Tfou paid off when he stayed on strongly to win the Novices’ Handicap Chase over two and a half miles. He will be better over  further and fences are definitely his thing.

Nells Son was a bit novicey with his jumping early on, but warmed through the race and really got going at the end. It was both a promising and disappointing run at the same time as he looked like he was going to stay on past Since Day One, but he battled back and got back in front just before the line. There is no doubt Nells Son will come on from that run and he may want a little further. He is entered for Carlisle next Monday (7th) over two and a half miles.

The final race of the day, the National Hunt Flat Race, we were represented by The Kalooki Kid. Our first bumper runner of the season and another promising run in second place to a horse with experience and good form to their name as well.

Wetherby

Four days later we went to Wetherby with Miss Milano and Parisencore. They both won their races, Miss Milano finally breaking her maiden tag after a summer break which has seen her grow and strengthen up nicely. Unfortunately She’s A Rocca (for the same owner as Parisencore), was due to run at Uttoxeter on the same day but got stuck in traffic when the M6 was closed due to an accident. Paris ran a nice race when making virtually all.

We also had Findthetime running at Wetherby the following day, where he ran well on his first run back after an absence. He may go over fences later in the year, all being well.

Marown was our only runner at Ayr on Saturday and after an off season last year he seems back on the right track. Hopefully we can have a successful season with him.

Carlisle

No Regrets had his first start over fences and looked to need the run. Serious Ego was disappointing and Sean [Quinlan] said he was travelling well until three out when he stopped quickly. He was scoped after the race and all was clear. He will be tried on a flatter track next time. Houston Texas was the highlight of the day, when jumping superbly to win for the third time at Carlisle over fences. We are looking forward to more staying chases with him this season.

A Personal Note

As many of you know, it is not Nicky himself who runs the social media side of things here. I, Isla, have been in charge of all the pages over the last few years, however I have decided to move on and I am going to be passing the reins over (no pun intended) to Ryan Day, who has developed a keen interest in photography since retiring from the saddle. It has been a pleasure getting to know many of you, celebrating and enjoying your horses with you and sharing the yard with friends and followers.
Ryan will also be taking over the management of the syndicates alongside Tom Hurst and they can be reached either via the office or email ryan.day94@icloud.com / tom.hurst1@live.co.uk.

I will still be keeping the website updated and keeping track of the five to follow – in which there are plenty of points on the leader board so far!

Thank you for all your support over the years and I wish you all the very best.
