The sparkling form of the Nicky Richards Greystoke stable continued with a double at Doncaster on Saturday.
Firstly it was Jamesieconn in the Virgin Bet Handicap Chase over 3 miles 2 furlongs. Jockey Danny McMenamin had Jamesieconn at the front throughout the marathon trip in the famous black and white striped silks. He was challenged over the last three fences by Jongleur D, Etoiles but given a great ride by Danny he held off that horse’s challenge gamely to win by a head. This was Jamesieconn’s second win in a row.
Things got even better for the Greystoke stable and Danny thirty minutes later when Saracen Beau quickened away to win the Virgin Bet Handicap Hurdle over 2 miles 4 furlongs. Saracen Beau was settled at the back of the field for most of the race by Danny. He made steady progress to challenge turning into the home straight. Danny produced him to challenge jumping the last hurdle and the 7 year old sauntered clear to win by three and three quarter lengths. Saracen Beau seems certain to continue to improve and seems sure to give his owner Anthony Peter Fowler many more exciting days in the future.
The Greystoke stable is in scintillating form and it’s a credit to Nicky and all of his staff and the hard work they do to keep churning out the winners.
