Nicky Richards put up a Brilliant training performance at Newcastle when saddling two winners from two runners
The day started when Jamesieconn made just about all the running to win the Virgin Bet A Good Bet Handicap Chase over 2 miles seven furlongs.
Jockey Danny McMenamin jumped the horse of in front and although being challenged many times by his rivals, he stayed on gamely to beat off the final challenge from the odds on favourite Passing Pleasure. It’s was a great win for owner D and D Armstrong whose famous black and white striped colours are well known on racecourses.
The day got even better when Lady Walk on Bye won the final race the High Gosforth Park Golf Club Mares NH Flat Race over 2 miles, ridden by talented 7 lb apprentice Rian Corcoran, who was having his first ride for the Greystoke trainer.
Lady Walk on Bye was totally green all the way round on her first racecourse appearance, and appeared to be struggling down the back straight because of her inexperience. But Rian kept on encouraging her and turning into the straight the penny started to drop and she made steady progress in the home straight to challenge. She quickened to the front to win by one and three quarters of a length with her ears pricked. She certainly looks a mare with a very bright future for owners Mrs I C Sellars and Miss D Sellars.
These winners continued the fine form of the Nicky Richards Greystoke stable.
